The Islip Terrace Fire Department is in its 86th year of service to the residents of Islip Terrace.
The Department consists of 125 volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians who are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week providing service to over 6,000 thousand residents and commuters in our district.
Last year (2002) we answered over 700 emergency calls some of which included; cardiac arrests, house fires, and motor vehicle accidents. We also supply mutual aid to our surrounding communities.
The department consists of 4 engines, 1 Heavy rescue truck, 1 tower ladder , 1 ambulance, 1 first responder, and a brush truck. All are fully equipped, and State Certified.
We are an all volunteer organization. Firefighters and Emergency Technicians receive no compensation for the hours devoted to the protection of our neighbors' life and property.
